Peggy Bowman Second Chance Fund
When Choice is All About Money
How It Works?
Because you are so generous with your contributions, our fund has never had to turn down a request for help from those in need.
Year to date, we have spent 106% of donations on services to patients. The extra dollars came from reserves from 2009.
In 2009, we helped fund 238 procedures with $69,00.
In 2008, we helped fund 194 procedures with $51,000.
We have 18 volunteer board members around the state as well as our director, Peggy Bowman, who is also a volunteer.
We work with 10 clinics. They call us with requests from each Kansas woman needing financial help.
.......
Here are the latest stories from those you have helped...
A 15-year old patient was diagnosed with leukemia and a blood clot in her heart. If we had been unable to help her, she would have surely died.
34 year old found out at five months that there was a severe abnormality with her pregnancy. She wrote to us: "I found it ironic that my insurance company would pay thousands of dollars to have me check into the hospital and deliver this baby after it died on its own, but would not help with an abortion that cost much less." She ended her thank you letter to us with, "My husband and I are amazed that there is someone out there who helps complete strangers in their darkest hours and does so with kindness and grace. I plan to donate to your organization going forward and hope that the funds I provide hep any/all women who are faced with a difficult decision to keep or terminte their pregnancy for whatever reason they have. Words cannot thank you enough, but I hope my story helps you understand how many women you are helping in Kansas. How wonderful you truly to do and give all that you do. With much love and and admiration,"
